"But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."

Acts 6:4 (KJV)

What is prayer?

Spiritual communication with God.

Who relays our prayers to God the Father?

Romans 8:26-27 (KJV): "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

Romans 8:34 (KJV): "Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."

How should we pray?

Matthew 6:7-13 (KJV): "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

Why do we add "in Jesus' Name" when we pray?

John 14:13 (KJV): "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
